Geometrics 12 finished
I really should have “blocked” this small quilt to help it hang better. By that, I mean, get it wet, stretch it out on the floor and make it dry flat and nice and even. I used the table and the edges are curling. I probably put the binding on too tight. I figure it will loosen up over time with washing, using and drying. Things will all “even out”.
I did rewash it and lay it flat to dry - and retook a pic the next morning. But it was quite bright that morning.
This little quilt was quick to finish and make. In these close up pictures which show the real colors, the blue - even the light blue shows up better than in the “before” pictures only which were taken indoors. I’m glad—especially since these are the real colors.
Adding a shadow (the black part) to any block will make it more interesting. So, if these rail fence and 9 patches seem kind of boring, adding another little part just raises it to a new level!
The backing: I did piece it - I do not have a boatload of black fabrics - but that blue stars fabric on the left and the smaller stars, came in a recently purchased bag of sort of scraps from a local auction site. I’m not doing it again, though, don’t worry I’m really engulfed in cutting up my own scraps. Don’t need to buy more. I tell myself I’m doing it for various reasons, but the main reason that I bought two auctions of scraps of multiple kilos of fabric was because I wanted to.
It is all now dealt with and this geometrics series is probably the best thing that came out of the adventure.
Wind makes taking a picture “an interesting experience”.

And you can see - this quilt is definitely hanging loose and free. No where near the ground like the last one was.
I have updated the pictures on the Geometrics page. I will have the pattern ready with tomorrow’s post which is the next one - same pattern/different colors. I’m still deciding on what to call it. If you have an idea, I’d love to hear it!
This is for the one of you who was curious about the straightened solids shelf.
I always hesitate in showing my “straightened” because to some of you, (maybe many?) it is still messy. But let me assure you- it is neat.

It’s not a super clear shot because I screen shot a video I made for my sis.
After
I know I should go through and refold a few of those pieces. But it is a real struggle. Even since taking the picture on Sunday afternoon, I have pulled 2 or 3 pieces out of here and used them. It is one of those collections that is in a constant state of flux and use. (I did remove those threads hanging down but did not retake the picture. I wasn’t really planning on posting it.)
