Let's do it!

I did several different things today - including sandwiching 3 quilts, quilted 2 and did a few other things. I’m still not up to my normal level of energy or stamina, it seems. But I’m definitely getting closer to my normal. Maybe having my husband get up at 2 am isn’t helping me feel rested. (The Tampa Bay Rays are playing in the American League division series right now and their games start about then and my husband has been waking up to watch at least part of them! LOL).

One of the the things I am doing is adding borders to the larger tops that Fran (a friend from AZ who makes the Around the World quilt tops for me) has sent me.

They start out being about 70” wide, so I like to add a 2.5” inner border and then a larger 6.5” outer wide border (those are cut sizes).

I’ll sew the smaller border on first and then the wide one.

This makes them into a typical European double. Here’s what I did yesterday - cut those borders for these tops. I’ll try to sew up two of them every day until I get them finished. Then people will gobble these up as the larger quilts are taken very quickly in our give-away!

Last time I didn’t have any big ones finished. I will either put these into the pile of quilts to finish this year, or just move them to the church building for next year. We’ll see. I already have 130 tops here at the house as my goal to finish up for now—including some of this type.

Then today we took some food to some American friends (missionaries) who came back last week from the states on a direct flight from Chicago so they are under a quarantine. I asked my friend, the wife, if they needed anything from the store and they did. They live about a half hour from us, so we did that just after our afternoon lunch/dinner. (We first went shopping and then drove to their house— my husband and I did it together.) We had to talk with them from outside the fence and they were talking with us from their window in their house. The police come by and check on them daily to make sure they are staying home.

(We didn’t have to undergo that because when we arrived, we flew in through Amsterdam - so we were coming in through Europe. It’s one of those mysterious loopholes that exists.)

These little beauties are finishing at 7”x7” once sewn into the top.

Then, I got busy making these. I had hoped to finish up this top today, but first I had to make these and they took longer to make than I thought they would.

Hopefully I can finish it up tomorrow so I can show you.

And that’s it for today!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
