Thinking...

While getting back has been wonderful - back to life here in Poland and my own home and things - and of course, my husband….my brain has been working overtime - trying to put everything where it’s supposed to be.

Random thoughts since I’ve been back:

“Brrr. I’m chilly!” (It was 57 F)

“I really need to do some cleaning!” (cobwebs!)

“I’m so thankful for my washing machine.” (no special reason - maybe because we struggled with mom’s while in FL until she got a different one.)

“I’ve got to get a handle on all this fabric that is just random - leftover from charity quilting - big pieces. Why not just sew them together and make more backings. What am I waiting for? Why did I just store them?” (I did start on that.)

“Hmm…I thought when I left, that bed (my daughter’s bed) was completely uncovered.” (It was but my husband piled quilts all over it as he is working in my fabric storage room which also had a bunch of quilts in it blocking his work area.)

“I don’t remember how many charity quilts I had actually finished for 2021 so far (0), but I thought I had done more than what I’m seeing quilted. Hmm. Oh…there are a bunch of sandwiched quilts. I had best get busy quilting so I can move around in my sewing room!” I guess I threw all the sandwiched quilts in my sewing room - and I had sandwiched quite a few.

This is how many charity quilts I had actually quilted this 2021 year to date (before I left in April).

The sandwiched quilts are making it difficult to get to my Juki to work on piecing. The best way to solve the problem is just to quilt the quilts.

“I’m curious how many quilts I still have at church. I’ll count them on Sunday. Right now I’m still in clean-up mode.”

“I really want to get back to sewing.” (While I made some quilts in FL - 48 to be exact) only a couple of them were actually ‘piecing’. Most of them were with panels. Getting itchy fingers! It’s been 4 days since I’ve touched a machine!

and then….I did get to my machine…

“Oh my…shoulders aching a bit again. My left wrist - am feeling it again…I remember why I want that long arm” after quilting a few charity quilts that had been sandwiched and sitting in my sewing room!

And those are some of my random thoughts going through my head within a few days of arrival back in Poland.

But now…looking forward:

I want to get back to the UP Greens SOON. I have 4 boxes of pieces and scraps. I want to get it down to 2. Two and I’m happy with leaving it at that for the time being.

Then, I want to make some more just scrappy quilts - maybe 2.5” ones for a change. Maybe some with combination of sizes. I have bags and bags of these strips already cut. I’m ready to make something beautiful - or at least interesting.

I’m not planning more definitely or concretely than that at the moment.

There are lots of things to do. As far as quilting, I must get the sandwiched ones quilted that are in the sewing room as they are causing me issues of movement. I suppose that is primary. I can’t even get to my Juki to do any piecing until I get some of these done. I quit counting at about 10 piled in that room.

I’m still working on all the ‘getting back into the swing of things’ part of my life. But I’m also looking forward with eagerness and anticipation of what can be done!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
