Drawing close to the Deadline - "The Weekend of Miracles"!
Today I got a lot of odds and ends done. I taped up a lot of those boxes (with numbers or taped shut the food part) and stacked them in groups.
We will be taking three families’ presents on Sat. morning and 2 in the afternoon locally. Then on Sunday we will head out about an hour away with the last two families after church.
Here are the three Sat. am groups of presents.
Family 3 - a mom and her daughter - both adults - handicapped - the big presents here are a wardrobe and 2 hanging kitchen cabinets that will be installed in their room for storage.
Here are the ones from Family 1 - with the Down’s Syndrome son. We are hoping to be able to get to see them when they open their presents. We’d like to meet this family!
The last one that will be taken on Sat. am is for the man with his sick wife. I met this man a few weeks ago when delivering a pile of bandages.
These are the presents that we have for Sat. afternoon - between 2 and 3 pm. We will take these presents to the gymnasium in Otwock.
This first pile is for a grandmother who is caring for her two granddaughters, 10 and 12. If you are such a situation - well, my heart goes out to you. I know the love you have for your loved ones give you the strength and energy you need every day.
These are for the brother/sister packages. The blue boxes are filled with food. I made sure it was “young people friendly”. :)
We will have to go after church on Sunday - but I think they will be sure to wait for us as we will probably be some of the last ones showing up there. The place is only open til 3 pm. But we just can’t make the distance on Saturday along with all the local families that we have. We had to spread it out and they didn’t offer a Friday evening option.
I spent some time getting more supplies for packing today as well. I realized with Ewa coming to help I needed to make sure I had enough tape and paper.
I am also ready for the Sat. afternoon two families as soon as I write up one more thing for one of the boxes.
So, what Ewa and I hope to do on Friday is wrap up the presents for all the huge family of 10. Here is a photo of the things we need to wrap up. She’s coming over in the morning. I think we can do it - wait - I know we can. If I didn’t, I’d be downstairs working on it. We won’t wrap that ironing board and two drying racks. Mike and I discussed it and we will just tape them all together and slap a number on it. Last year we saw a lawn mower in the building where they were accepting presents and it was NOT wrapped in a box - just had a tag. Also, we will pack the four laundry baskets full of household stuff and just cover the baskets with pretty paper and call it wrapped. My husband said to make sure the handles were still reachable. It makes it much easier to handle. I got them two light and two brown baskets. Two hampers - one light and one brown.
Since I’m actually ready for Saturday, I’m feeling pretty calm. A lot different than this time last year! :)
Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!
Here’s one of the beauties we have!
