We've OPENED the Expansion!
We’re in!
It’s open!
IT’S BEEN A known fact that we’ve needed more room.
A little while ago I wrote about us acquiring another unit in our strip center so that I could have a dedicated spot in which to create packs, dubbed the CHOP SHOP. (We have the Sewin’ Shop, where we sew, the Fabric shop, where we sell fabric, and the CHOP shop, where we chop cotton!)
Well, the whole purpose of this was so that we could open up the current chop shop to retail space.
We have been working like those working hunting or service dogs (not the lazy cats that I own who could NEVER be accused of having insomnia) to get fabrics moved around.
Over the past 3 days we were finally able to get enough of the fabrics out of the old CHOP SHOP where I had my 27 foot table, and into the new CHOP SHOP, so that we could then move our current retail fabrics into the spots on the shelves.
Because you’re reading this on the blog, you are aware that we have an online store. In order to have an online business you have to be organized so that you can lay your hands on your fabrics as quickly as possible. We code each of the fabrics with somewhat logical codes on the ends of the bolts, and then put those codes in alphabetical order within whatever room or category that it should be.
So, it was imperative that we get those fabrics in their new home in the same logical order.
For those who are wondering, we have turned the former CHOP SHOP into our $9.99 retail room space.
That means we put the Panel Coordinates, the Kaffe, the Grunge, and the categories into that room with the Sports Teams licensed prints!
So much fun has gone into that room that we decided to put a table where you can lay out fabrics for comparison, study and observation as well.
I thought you’d enjoy some pictures. The table can double as a cutting table as well, if we need to.
Then, because we moved all of those fabrics OUT of their rooms and locations in the store, we created MORE MUCH, much, much needed space on our color walls.
So, we moved the blue-greens into where the Kaffe fabrics were.
We took the metallics out of the far corner of our store and put them into a much brighter, easier to see location, where the grunge used to be.
Then, we moved the pinks where the MOVIES were, the grays where the PETS were and put the whites in the pink and gray room so you can coordinate pink, gray and white fabric quilts! Nah, not really. We just put the whites in there because we need more space for our white/whites and whites/off-whites and stripes and plaids!
Then, lastly, we moved the purples into a separate home where the panel coordinates USED to be.
We still have some empty shelves, and the super big blessing is that we were able to space out our current fabrics, get all of them out of the bins on the floor and in the walkway, and make room for more guild meetings in our rooms.
We could NOT have done this without Peter and Michael building the shelves in both the new CHOP SHOP and reconfiguring some things for me in the current building, as well as Ken, Jessica, Sarah, and Cheryl putting so much effort in moving all the fabrics around.
Cheryl has worked tirelessly behind the scenes preparing the room, picking up after me, and getting the mess out of being piles on the floor behind the table and neatly into tubs, so it could be looked at, moved and worked on in a bit! Ken helped me create the curtain effect by getting some PVC piping and working that out for us!
So, come on, all you out there – come and see us!
We’ll have a blast!
For those who aren’t able to come and visit, keep ordering online. You are getting about 99% of the fabrics online. So, don’t feel like the stepchildren that you might think you are. Trust me, you’re NOT! I think you all see more than many of the ones who walk in! I’m always amazed at those of you who love and enjoy the daily emails.
I do so enjoy writing them.
So, take a look at our pictures, and come and see us soon!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!
Be sure to check out what we have for you in the store here!
Here’s one of the beauties we have!
