What I've learned using the Electric Quilt program (lately)

Sometimes I feel pretty stupid with what I don’t know with the Electric Quilt program.

I think if some of you have my patterns where the sashing strips are meant to go straight across in one long piece, but the drawing shows cornerstones, I’ve written in the pattern that I was sure that EQ could let me draw them in there, but I simply didn’t know how.

I’ve learned how!

Now I feel so much better!

LOL

Now that may be strange to you, and part of me feels weird to say that, but it is true. I knew it had to be simple - but I didn’t realize that what the program did was a work-around. Then, I felt a little bit better - because sometimes I do a work-around with things I do, but figure it isn’t the most professional way to do things.

Let me show you what I’m talking about.

I learned this on my way to my son’s wedding. My sis handed me a book on the EQ program and that was included in it. There was a LOT of information in the book and I was able to read the whole book and just work through things “in my head” because of my familiarity with the program.

This is how I showed “You’re Covered” - from my Upcycles Blues quilt series. Here it is shown and looks like there are sashings and then light blue cornerstones. However, I didn’t use cornerstones.

I am sure in the pattern, I told you to just make one long strip and ignore the cornerstone blocks - as they weren’t there and I didn’t know how to “not draw” them.

Below is how it would look now that I know more!

So, from now on, when you see one of my patterns, and I don’t want you to use cornerstones I will be able to draw them correctly. When you see a pattern of mine that just says, “I know it looks like there are cornerstones, but there aren’t really there”, you will know it was written before mid May, 2021! As I get opportunity and the need, I will be able to update them.

My Free Patterns are here! - Including this one, should you be interested!

In the meantime, I’m busy trying to read and learn more every day - about something!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe! Thanks for coming along on my journey with me!
