'Chicy' Chevrons (pronounced "sheeky" chevrons)
This quilt is number 3 in my UP Greens series.
Obviously, with this one, I didn’t use ONLY greens - I used pink and greens. These colors remind me of what I think of as “Shabby Chic” - which is why I gave it this name. I thought it was a bit of a contrast using a sharp zigzag design with the soft colors.
This is the backing - made up of second-hand duvet covers.
Here you can see the colors pretty well. I went ahead and used a lot of florals for the greens - to help with the “shabby chic” feeling for this quilt.
I had seriously considered putting a lot more lines of quilting in the pink and leaving the green unquilted. With that idea in mind, I went ahead and quilted these lines first. Then, I decided that I had quilted it enough. I liked the puff! So I left it that way and didn’t go back and put more lines of quilting in the pink sections!
I had doubts about it, but frankly, I was afraid of sort of ruining it - and those lines will definitely hold the quilt together. Once again - I liked it as it is, and decided, at least, in this case, “Less is more!” Or maybe better stated, “Less is enough!”
From the side: Our snow is all gone now except for a few piles of it here and there.
I decided to quilt it as kind of an echo stitch type quilting or an almost stitch in the ditch. It would probably be better called “stitch beside the ditch”.
Here’s the quilt roll!
Now you can really see the shades of various pinks I used. Also the stitching. I used my walking foot for that.
This one was a very pleasant surprise to me when I finished it. I know that I like pink - and I liked my combination of fabrics, but I still did not expect myself to like it as much as I do.
I have worked on the pattern for this quilt. It’s here.
I’ve done two other quilts/patterns with a chevron design, should you be be curious about that!
You can click on the photo below and it will take you to the free pattern.
And, just to keep up with the “latest” photos, here is my UP Greens series so far with the updated photo.
Enjoy!
