Happy Memorial Day - from the Quilted Twins

Happy-Memorial-Day.jpg

While Memorial Day tends to be a solemn affair, I wanted to wish you a wonderful day. I hope you can spend it with at least a few of your loved ones.

We hope to spend some time together - Rachael and I - with some of our children and husbands. We want to bring mom for an hour or so, to enjoy the festivities.

I asked mom if we have any family members who lost their lives in the service of their country. She said, “Yes, your uncle.” Mom had two sisters - both of whom were nurses. Her older sister had a husband who was a lieutenant colonel in the US Army. He died in the service in Korea - he never came home.

So, I just wanted to spend this moment to say if you have lost a loved one - “Thank you” for your sacrifice! No one can quite understand what you’ve been through except those who have been there. I’ve not done that.

I trust you can enjoy the day and that your loved one who gave this ultimate sacrifice for our freedom is honored in a way that is fitting and appropriate!

I have made only a few Americana/patriotic quilts - but here’s my favorite.

It’s not my pattern and I made it following a You Tube tutorial. I think it was called Americana Stars.

If you are so inclined to want to make a patriotic/Americana quilt to honor a current veteran, soldier or a family who has lost a loved one in the service of his/her country (I’m referring to the USA at this point), you can find lots of patriotic fabric as well as a lot of really nice patriotic panels which would make up a wonderful quilt in a jiffy! Check it out!

I know it’s short and sweet - but right now that seems appropriate to the occasion.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Stay safe!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Here’s one of the more solemn ones we have!

You can get this one here!
