"Cobblestone Greens" - UP Greens #19 top finished

I have still quite a few of these greens - a lot of what I have left are simply miscellaneous. They are presenting quite a challenge to me. However, I’m not giving up, instead I’m trying to rise to the challenge!

:)

This is a quilt pattern I came across while perusing free patterns from fabric companies. This particular one is from Robert Kaufman and is free here. The name is Cobblestone Street. I made mine much bigger than the pattern is written for.

I was intrigued how this one would work well with the kinds of greens I have a whole box of. I hoped that the sashing strips in between the various prints would be enough to tie it all together.

Here is a close up of the fabrics:

I did use a variety of whites as the little sashing strips and the long sashing strip between rows of blocks. You can see some of them are brighter white than others.

When you make a quilt like this - since it is on point, you can easily make it with two halves that are put together with a center strip.

This means that right now it is about 86”x97”. I may trim it down to get it all nice and straight after quilting.

I left the strip between the two halves visible so you can see where I sewed them together.

These individual pieces are cut 5”x10” and can be cut from a Moda Layer Cake - or any company’s 10” squares pack if you like. Obviously this one is just a bunch of random prints. I tried to go with pastels specifically greens and pinks. Then, towards the end - I ended up adding a few more just greens and a couple of darker ones.

Once I got the two halves together, it looked like this:

I had to then trim the edges off.

Here’s a nice close up of the fabrics. This gives you a good overview of the fabrics I used in this top.

So there you are! It is number 19 of this series of UP Greens!

Here’s another overview of where the series is so far. I know it is repetitive for a lot of you but maybe some of you are new here! In that case, as a review - these are the tops I’ve made out of the second-hand greens fabrics I had - that I’m trying to work down to having only 2 boxes of greens left.

I know I’ve mentioned that a time or two.

I think that this one did help me use up quite a few pieces.

Here is a summary:

Does anyone remember how many tops they thought I was going to be able to make out of this group of fabrics? I’ll have to go look it up! I don’t remember what anyone’s guesses were.

All I know is that it is always more than I thought it could possibly be!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along with me on my quilting/sewing journey!
