At the County Fair - in Ohio - special report by Ken

My sis’s husband has been visiting his brother for a week now up in western PA. They took a road trip to Canfield, Ohio and while there went to the Canfield County Fair.

He sent back pictures for all of us to enjoy. I thought I’d share them with you!

I know that long before I started quilting we went to the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, AK. There I saw amazing quilts hanging way up high - I remember feeling frustrated that they weren’t down low so I could see them better. But my guess NOW is that they were placed there so that they didn’t get touched. (I wasn’t quilting then.)

I see in this display they used clear plastic to keep hands off of them.

Mostly what drew my attention when I saw the quilts at the state fair in Alaska were the quilts that featured moose and other Alaskan scenes. At that point, I didn’t appreciate extensive piecing - but the appliqued ones spoke to me - but I never figured “I” could do anything like that.

Now I find myself appreciating the piecing as well and STILL thinking that I can’t do all that beautiful applique. Caveat - I do know that I could do the applique - but I find that I don’t have the patience for it. I should make myself do one or two … just because!

And that’s it for the special report from Ken - who is visiting his brother in PA!

Thanks, Ken!
