Guests are Gone

I had planned a wonderful post for today. I really had.

But I failed.

The last couple of weeks we’ve had guests again - and the second man left this morning. It feels like a long, long time ago, though it was less than 10 hours ago.

Needless to say I’ve been doing a lot of things today - things that for some reason I had a hard time doing with other people at home. Laundry, post office runs (2), paperwork, opening packages, etc.

So, folks, I’m tired. I want to do this next post right. I want to show you the first packages (quilts) to come by mail! By that I mean, the first ones I’ve received!

I sort of jokingly told my husband that these are the packages that “won the package/customs lottery” (except for the one from Netherlands as it is from the EU).

Today I spent quite a while working on getting yet another 5 packages delivered (paperwork!). I told my husband that these are the packages that “lost the package/customs lottery” (not so jokingly).

And I want to explain about them and show them, share them, etc.

But not today. I’m just beat.

Apparently Rachael, there in FL, keeps getting asked, “How do you feel?”

How about a simple, “Tired”?

One of our guests was only here for a few days - from Sat. evening til Wed. morning. He has a non profit that he started - both in the states and in Ukraine - he is normally a missionary in the Kiev region. He said, “It would be nice to know how long the war is going to last.” LOL Boy, wouldn’t it?

He mentioned that he is tired as well.

We all have to switch from “sprint mode” into “marathon mode”. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but that’s how it is. There are times that ‘other things’ just have to be taken care of.

(Maybe marathon mode isn’t even the approach we have to take. A person in a marathon has no time to do anything except run.)

And today is one of those days. I’ve been trying to take care of a bunch of things. But I have a lot more to do still.

One thing I did finish up this morning was finish up more pillowcases. I am thinking of going into my fabric stash room and pulling a whole stack of florals and making pillowcases from all of those. Those pillowcases are a great project to use up fabric that I think I won’t use otherwise. Of course, for me, that is somewhat hard to admit. Shown below - I decided to take some blues - as I have 4 shelves on a bookcase of only blues.

One of the things we need to do is get my husband to the doctor to see about his back/leg pain. He also lost a crown on his last trip to Ukraine. He needs to get that taken care of as well. He did bring it back with him - and it’s in a zipper plastic bag so he can take it with him back to the dentist who did the work.

So…we have had some big things going on here. I had a couple of trips to the local package delivery place - things I ordered over the Easter holiday - many arrived today - I think both times I picked up about 9 packages.

So that’s it for today. I’ll check back in with you tomorrow.

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey!
