Happy Valentine's Day!

Well, I suppose we can’t avoid it - anywhere we look, advertisers have reminded us that today is February 14 - or Valentine’s Day.

When we first came to Poland, it was really an ignored holiday here. That actually surprised me since I thought that it was named after a saint - and after all, this is a Catholic holiday - or a least has some ties to a martyr named Valentine.

Never fear. After all these years, advertisers have certainly caught up with the times and now start advertising perfumes, candy, and underwear in shades of pink and red beginning just after all the Christmas stuff is cleared out of the malls in January.

Sample advertising - recently - from Lidl.

I really don’t do a lot of seasonal stuff - simply because I find myself not finishing things in time for that holiday - and by the time I get things put up and then taken down - well, I just don’t do it very well - I don’t get around to it.

Now that kids aren’t home, I just haven’t made it priority!

In fact, within the last few years I’ve given away my seasonal decorations including spring, patriotic/Americana and fall/Thanksgiving ones. The only ones I’ve kept are Christmas ones. Yeah.

Minimalizing?

Not really.

Just making room for more quilts! LOL Yes, that’s true, though!

Not only did I find myself not wanting to make the time to change out decorations, I just found out that they take up space and make the empty space full if and when I did decorate. And I struggle with that anyway.

I decided to make a bunch of people on my freecycle group very happy and give things away - not all at once, but over time.

But the fabrics - I love all the seasonal ones!

Anyway, I have done a few quilts featuring hearts. I like hearts - and could do a whole series of them! I just haven’t.

Anyway…

Let’s see.

I’ve made these quilts with hearts on them - click on the arrows to get to the next one. The title tells the name of the quilt or the occasion for which I made it.

This year I’ve been focusing on finishing up those greens more than I have on making anything like another heart quilt. I’ve seen some come through the You Tube channels - or at least they did a few weeks ago. I like almost all of them. But back to my main point - I really don’t do many seasonal quilts.

Anyway….not sure if today is special for you - but I hope you can find someone to say ”I Love You” to today. It can be a child, a mate, a special friend or family member.

Let’s take the time to appreciate those around us! Let them know you love them! Let’s make today better for someone in our lives.

And just in case you do want to make a Valentine’s Day project for next year - here are some of our Valentine’s fabrics! Click on this link to get to all of them on the site.

So here’s my question for you - do you make “seasonal” or “holiday themed” quilts? if not - anything else like table runners or such? Let me know in the comments. I’m curious if I’m the only who just doesn’t get around to making them! I have done cloth napkins though - from beautiful heart fabrics - if that counts! :)

(Pillowcases would be more like my style!)

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Here’s one of the beauties we have!
