My husband officially handed over the room to me!

As you know the last time I showed you the room, there were several unfinished things that my husband hadn’t gotten to yet.

He also had noticed that the paint on the wall on a couple of places seemed too light and needed another coat.

We also needed one more light switch, and a couple of outlet covers. We also decided to put in 3 more lights - the small ones - in the ceiling. It made the lights more even in the ceiling and meant there are no sections in the room where there is a shadow - at least not in the corners.

It is very, VERY bright in the room with all the lights on. I am 100% tickled.

The only thing left not finished now is the trim around the door. My husband said he would do that when he finished the drywall and trim around the door in the hallway just outside the door and the room where we have our hot water heater and heat pump, etc. My husband worked on that and got all the drywall up on that - and will work on the mudding on that - which is pretty exciting to me. I had no idea he would continue to work on that area of the basement.

Anyway, my husband mopped the floor one more time, cleaned up all the little bits and pieces that were left in the room and told me “I’m all finished in there”.

So…here it is.

The room is 4mx3.3m or 13.12ft x almost 11 ft. It’s not a huge room.

That’s also the reason I want to wait to get the actual frame and set up before I add anything else to the room including a table or chair or anything. I need to get a good idea of what space I have left and I am notoriously bad at spatial planning! Seriously - of all the math I had in school - I had the hardest time with Geometry. Even now when I see people work up quilt top designs ‘in their heads’ - I am amazed. I need to see it on paper.

But I digress.

Then here’s another video showing what needs to be done with the trim work around the door - which my husband can do and said he would do when he does it on the outside of the door as it will be easier to do both at the same time (and I get that!)

Here are individual pictures should you prefer that.

The 9 little lights along the side of the room where hopefully I can put a regular sewing machine if I have time to use it while the computerized one is working. That’s the hope, anyway.

Lots of outlets here

Plenty of light - and in real life, I couldn’t see the difference in white around the fixture on the ceiling.

Tile - we thought of quilting when we saw this pattern of tile.

Two switches - the closest one to the door is the two sets of upper lights on the ceiling. The one farther away from the door will be the upper wall outlets and the ceiling outlet for a light above the long arm itself.

He even thought to put a door handle stop!

I hope this helps.

Now, my praying friends, would you pray that Poland would soon approve my next temporary residency permit so I can move forward with this?

That is the hold-up now. I do not want to put out a lot of money for a frame and long arm until I know for sure I am allowed to live here for the next 2-3 years. Oh yes, it’s most likely they will approve it but it just seems prudent to me to wait til I have the official approval.

Thanks!

The room has been officially handed over to me. I actually tried to stay out of it mostly except for photos here and there so there wasn’t a confusion as to ownership during this process. LOL Maybe some of you ‘get’ that statement - maybe some of you don’t. I’ve just found out that it’s best to just let my husband work - without my being in the way or commenting too much as the process goes along. I certainly didn’t want to end up with the project all on my shoulders!

Here are before/after photos.

And just in case you were not with me when I started - here is the whole room in its rather raw state. I wasn’t talking - just videoing.

The wall you are looking at at the beginning of this video is the wall where the usb ports are eventually located.

And that’s it. I had thought I wouldn’t show the room again - but I just had to - now that all those little things were finished!

Thanks so much for coming along on my journey with me! I do appreciate you all so much!

Be sure to check out what my sis has for you in the store here!

Here’s one of the beauties we have! Just for the occasion of the Olympics, I thought I should feature some of our skiing fabric!
