I Am Ready to get my Living Room Back!
It’s about time. Since Feb. 25 I’ve been using my living room as a sort of warehouse for things that I bought for Ukraine. Since April some time, I started using it for holding blankets and other accruements of the quilt packs I’m making.
I’m getting close to the end now. The 15 big U Haul boxes I’ve got left are all. I mean, that sounds simple, right? The problem is, it is worse before the end, right? I bought a lot of blankets, so as I draw towards the conclusion of the quilts I will still have a good collection of choices to match up with the quilts. We’ll see how long now it will take. I now have several people who are helping, and I know that things work faster with more people as long as the supplies are here.
So here goes. These two pictures were from working today.
If you have been reading here for some time, you know that my living room is my layout stage. I use it for putting down tops and taking pictures. Obviously I can’t do that with all the stuff in the room.
It was brought home to me today when a lady walked in who said, “I didn’t realize you had a couch!” I had cleared off the couch because a girl needed to sleep on it.
So, lest you think I’m ready for the next Hoarder’s Show - let me assure you that I am counting down the boxes til I get through so I can completely get this mess OUT of the house - hopefully pretty much of it all in nice beautiful bags of quilt sets.
It’s causing me stress. As wonderful as it has been to have all these beautiful quilts to pack up, the amount of stuff has added to an already stressful year.
In short, I’m very excited to see the end.
Here is the current state of the two rooms that are holding these treasures - waiting to be given away.
Before we go any further - one group has asked for 300 and hopefully will COME and get them! The other groups get quilts as we can take them.
Today I had a lady call me and say their van was going back today - and there was room - so could they come and get some quilts to fill up that space. Why not? I went back over there and helped them fill up their van “to full”! They were on their way to the town of Lutsk where they then dispense things to various places all over Ukraine.
So, as I see this project come to a close on my end - (I still see it going one or two weeks to finish it all up - depending on how much help I have), I am thinking of doing something very special to celebrate when it is finally done! Not sure yet, what, though!
Maybe just sit and do nothing for two whole days! Probably not. That might last half an hour. That’s not really my style.
Maybe I will disappear into my sewing room, though - for a week! :)
And there you are. A glimpse of the other side.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey! I’ll be sure to give you a photo when I’m done!!!
