Week in Review with regards to Ukraine
I was able to go through another 6 boxes and and match up quilts with pillowcases. Last Saturday I had finished up the ones from the previous 11 boxes. On Sunday I took a full vehicle to the church and had help unloading it. That was wonderful.
Here we go -
Monday - Lena came over about 10 am and helped me to pack up a lot of bundles.
Here are some pictures from that. We took the finished ones to the church building and put some in the garage and some in the room where we are putting them for the time being.
Tuesday - It was an our 36th anniversary - but we had gone out on Monday evening as we needed to be in Warsaw anyway.
So, I matched up 6 boxes with pillowcases after taking inventory of the boxes. That took a while. Most of the day in fact. I think I kind of run out of steam after a while. When I take things out, I count, then record. We have a spreadsheet where I’m recording how many pillowcases, quilts, baby quilts, fleece/microfiber, etc. In the end we will have a total number of items. Then, I pack up some of the things into various boxes as I can and label them if they are going to get moved on into Ukraine simply as a crocheted afghan or a woven blanket, etc. I put all the baby stuff together so when I make up my baby sets, I have those things sort of all together in one spot.
Wednesday -
I had to run to church to meet the courier who was delivering some packages for a friend who wasn’t at the church. So, I met two couriers, actually and picked up her packages for her. Actually when I drove up one was there - and had just gotten out of his truck - which I wasn’t expecting. But it is one of those mini miracles that seems to happen. I was 25 min. early for the courier I was supposed to meet because I wanted to unload the van - some more vinyl bags and some boxes of baby sets were in my van.
Thursday -
I had packed up some more vinyl bags and then my husband and I took them to the church. I forgot my phone to take pictures in the church, but here are some of the bags at the house - out on the front porch area. (Lena left for Ukraine on Wednesday - but in July I’ll be getting more help in the form of a single lady coming to stay here.) Hopefully Lena will be back this week. Our daughter, Lydia, is coming to visit on Monday! I’ll get her to help with as much energy as she has.
This is now the room after we added those quilts from the van into the room.
Friday -
I did some sewing and had to help take my husband to the chiropractor as we are trying to figure out how best help him be able to sit upright without a lot of pain. We also went in on Wednesday. So not much Ukraine stuff. Just got some boxes that had to be dealt with - boxes of pillows. I also ordered more blankets.
Saturday -
I decided to see if I could get 30 quilts packed up in an hour and a half - but was able to get 37 ready.
I hadn’t really time myself before, but this time I focused on trying to be faster and working quickly.
Then I took and put them in the van so I could take them to church tomorrow and get help putting them in the church in that room. When I have several people helping it goes a lot faster!
This week, because of my husband’s physical situation, he didn’t take a trip to Ukraine - please pray for him/us as we try to figure out how best to help him. He’s been to the chiropractor 2x, had an MRI and does have another appt. next week (the 27th) with a specialist who hopefully can give us some direction. He is suffering a lot of discomfort/pain. It has something to do with his spine being twisted at the base and pinching a nerve.
And there you are - this week’s efforts in review!
