Getting the Stragglers Done

I had recently filled out three customs paperwork for more boxes - these would be from the people who sent me packages via the mail and not from you all that were sent via Quilted Twins.

I got all three boxes yesterday from the post office. I am glad I waited as I had been confused and not sure what I was getting or not getting when I filled out forms.

Anyway, two of them were large and one was small.

We dealt with them today - opened the boxes, packaged up the baby quilts into baby sets and packaged up the larger ones into vinyl cases. I say “we” but actually it was mostly Lena and Rachel who did the vinyl packs. It was another 7 large quilts and 7 baby quilts…so we were able to finish them up rather quickly.

For those of you who are curious, for the baby sets, we put in a quilt, a hooded towel, a flannel receiving blanket, a pack of baby wipes and a bonus item - right now we are putting in zipper pouch or the kind of bag you keep in your purse.

And so, unless we have more being sent to us by you, I think we are finished with those.

Here’s an amazing one!

Now I’m turning my attention to my charity quilts and other quilting. The weather this week has been hot so I don’t want to deal with batting, though I did manage to quilt several this week - simple straight line quilting. :) I didn’t actually have to touch the batting much that way.

Charity quilts piled in the back, Lena examining the beautiful quilt!

The recently finished vinyl packs waiting to go to the church building to get on a load.

These days are hot - and sticky. Great garden growing weather, but without a/c it’s not great quilting weather. But I’m aiming to get some cutting done in spite of it. I’ve missed so many days of quilting - am really getting antsy to get back in a sort of rhythm.

I have a mess I want to deal with - a place I’ve just piled things I’ve received since the end of February having to do with charity quilting, but not only. :) Want to deal with that pile as well. There are many tops from Ewa’s mom here locally, and Fran, from AZ, has sent several boxes that I’ve not even opened!!! Everything has just been placed “over there” and not even looked at. But it’s time now! I’m getting excited about that as I want to get going on them AND deal with the pile.

Am ready to move it on out by dealing with it all. I’ve currently finished completely 40 charity quilts - and have 15 more now ready to bind. When the weather turns cool I’ll buy some more batting and get going on another group of tops. I have plenty of backing fabrics.

I even was given some unfinished tops with accompanying batting in the boxes of quilts from the states. I think it is about time I take a look at what I got. I can finish those easily and quickly if they are truly ready to go!

So, ready to get on this pile! Ewa’s mom needs more to do, so I’ll try to cut for an hour for her to sew with (6.5” squares we’ve decided work very well for her).

Thanks so much for reading here. Soon I hope to have some more tops and quilts to show you - but the weather really must cooperate. Hot is one thing but hot and sticky is another!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
