Ukraine Efforts Last Week

I had done so much work in the preceding weeks for my husband's trip on Tuesday that this past week was spent mostly in just packing up the trailer and starting to order some things for the next trip.

Monday

The biggest thing we did today was pack up the trailer and truck for Mike’s trip on Tuesday.

I had ordered food from the wholesalers and we packed up some before that was delivered. There were 5 pallets of food!!!!!!!!!!!

We packed some, then the food was delivered, and then we packed some more.

This trailer was full, full and almost completely full.

I took pictures as we worked but because it was cold, my phone battery went down fast so I took fewer pictures than I usually do. But I tried.

Below is the BIG mixer that we had delivered on Friday to replace the one that arrived broken the week before. The second time it was delivered just fine. It made its way to Ukraine in good shape and arrived unharmed. Since it weighs over 300 lbs., this was a big deal to get into the truck. Mike had four men from our church come on Sunday evening at 8 pm to help him get it into the truck. All of the men work during the week so couldn’t help on Monday when we were going to pack.

The mixer is on its side. But it was delivered. We surrounded the mixer with various things to go.

Stepping back a bit to see how much room it took in the back of the truck.

Tuesday

Mike left very early this morning to head to Ukraine where he was going to meet up with a church there to give them the mixer we had ordered and gotten and then handed over the trailer load. He left at 3:30 am and got back middle of the night at 1:30 am. I managed to stay up til about midnight.

Wednesday -

I was getting ready for Thanksgiving and I quilted a couple of charity quilts - nothing for Ukraine except a couple of things ordered on line.

Thursday

Thanksgiving Day - after fixing the meal, eating, playing a game, eating dessert, I quilted a couple of charity quilts. I think I thought about what to order for the next load for Mike (probably the last load for 2022).

Friday

We got snow on Thursday and I didn’t go out today - I quilted charity quilts instead. I did order some thermoses for a quick trip Mike is taking next week (truck or van only - no trailer) - to go to with Tim to take a generator and some bullet proof vests across the border. They look like this. (These will be reimbursed to us as we getting them for someone else.)

Saturday

I brought a box into the house of things that had arrived earlier in the week. :) Not much, huh?

And that’s it. I did do a lot on Monday - and Tuesday I kept busy and praying for my husband who had a long day in Ukraine and back. Other than that, I pretty much focused on charity quilting so I can get some of my own quilts done this year! (Work before fun!) Oh…and Thanksgiving Day prep and then the day.
