2022 Charity Quilts #51-60 finished!

I had already finished 8 of the 10 until recently. Then, this week, still unwilling to buy a bolt of batting, I decided to go ahead and find a bag of scraps I had and just see if I had enough of them to make two more charity quilts.

I did.

So I went ahead and sandwiched them and quilted them. I quilted them pretty closely with free motion quilting to keep those batting pieces in place.

That left me with 10 I could photograph and post here! Now I can call my friend Anna who needs 14 or 15 quilts and get them to her. I should still have 5 left over to actually start a collection for local people who need quilts this winter. Anna lives about 40 miles from here.

Electricity is expensive and coal has almost tripled in price from what it was even two years ago now.

I’m working hard to prepare to go into full production - thankfully I really will only need to do 60 to meet my goal for the year - instead of 120 - since I have just shown you that I’ve finished 60. If I get going, I’d like to think maybe I can do more than 60 - but we’ll not go there yet. If I could get my long arm, I’m planning on practicing and practicing with charity quilts!

There are a variety of sources of these tops. Some of you will remember all those Browns that I bought that were part of a business in 2017 -

Several of these are from those tops I made with the browns. I’ve actually pretty much used up all the the browns (made into tops though many are waiting to be quilted). The blacks - that’s another story. I’m kind of looking around for other uses of the blacks as I’m going to go stark raving mad having to make that many quilts using black as big black squares. With the browns - I had many different shades of squares so it was interesting. The blacks, while there is some variety of shades, they are all pretty much well…black.

Anyway, a couple of these were from Fran in Arizona who makes a lot of tops for me, and then one is from Ewa and a couple from you all - sent with quilts for Ukraine. So there is a bit of variety here. And I like that.

I appreciate you all! Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey of mine! Have a great day wherever you are reading.

In case you are wondering, here is an overview of all 60 charity quilts so far this year - finished. Might be different to take a look at them this way! Get hit with all of them at once!

So there you are - 60 at once. As of this writing, the first forty are already given away - and I need about 15 of these last 20 for a lady named Anna - who needs them for some Ukrainian seniors who live in her area. I told her I would finish up some of the regular charity quilts for her since I couldn’t promise all those large quilts out of the bundles. We have a lot of smaller quilts - and not as many bigger ones.

That’s it for now! Have a wonderful day!
