The Next 8 Charity Tops Finished

This was my stash of quilts in 2021. This year I don’t have one as I’ve given them all away! Gotta get busy!

I am showing these to you for a couple of reasons.

First of all, a blog is supposedly an on- line diary - and this is what I did pretty much most of last week. I also am so glad to have something related to sewing to show you - that I can’t resist showing!

Thirdly, I am also sure that some of you will at least smile at some of the combinations I’ve come up with. There were a few of these I was just stuck on - and so I just “did something”. I hope someone likes them. These were all tops that Ewa’s mom put together for me as centers. Once again - while I tried to make them acceptable to my own sense of “good enough for someone - I think someone will like them” I am consoled by the fact that the backs will be something interesting as I’ve started to do that. Why? Well, it makes the quilt really reversible and secondly, it sped up my production. When I no longer had to piece backings, I was able to finish more charity quilts which leaves me more time to finish up other things (like my UP Greens series!).

I figure I need 60 or maybe 61 more tops handy to go ahead and finish up for 2022 to reach my goal.

I think in this one week I ended up finishing up about 33 tops - and as you can imagine, I used quite a bit of fabric in those days. I found myself reaching for blue a lot - and then had to try to come up with other colors as I was also trying for variety.

Ewa’s mom was making these with a 5x6 layout using 6.5” cut squares which pretty much Ewa cut for her. Ewa is a friend who lives in Warsaw and her mom lives in the town where our charitable organization is based - Otwock.

Thank you once again for coming along with me on this journey of mine! Have a wonderful day wherever you are reading.
