Lots o' Logs

This quilt can be a bit “Much”. But it is really nice. I do like it. The design is actually a log cabin block - the quarter log cabin in fact. In order to get a whole “round”, you need 4 blocks.

I did choose to go with swirls and lots of curls because I wanted the contrast to the long logs. They can be very LONG looking, so up close I wanted to have some “not long, skinny quilting”. :)

There were many ways to work this design, but I decided on this layout. You could get crazy with this one, in fact.

I did get this pattern written up. It’s here. I named it Lots ‘o Logs because it really does look like a whole lot of logs or strips because of the design.

I hope that you enjoy this - I really like how this one turned out. I also knew that because of all the long, skinny strips, I did not want to try to straight line quilt it - from the beginning of the design.

This one met my expectations. I like it. I hope you do too. It is also a great way to use those skinny strips if you are like me and like to trim down scraps into 1.5” strips. Sometimes this size is a bit harder to use up - but this pattern uses them exclusively for the center of this pattern.

Once again, the back of the quilt is made up exclusively of second-hand fabrics.

The quilting does add a lot of texture to the top.

You can tell that I used both off white and white strips in this. I did stay away from darker shades like tan.

The quilt roll:

Here it is in our yard in January this year in Poland. Not much snow this year so far.

This quilt is part of my Upcycled Greens series which is shown below.

With this one done, I have only 13 out of the 36 left to quilt, so that makes me happy!

I’m making decent progress on getting this series finished up completely and that is good news for me! As I get to the last 4 or 5, I will probably hardly be kept away from them as I will WANT to see them all finished. But as you can see, I am still a ways away from that point.

And that’s what I have for you today!

I hope some of you can use this pattern or at least this idea.

This group of fabrics is called I’ve got a Notion - by Northcott. Only $66 for this entire collection as shown! It’s wonderful!
