"Center Square"

Yep - another one done! Actually I managed to quilt quite a few of these while Mike was in Ukraine in December, right before Christmas. This was one of those. And yes, I’m very happy with it!

You know - those greens mixed with pinks - they end up being quite pretty.

This is number 22 in my Upcycled Greens series where I was trying to use up my boxes and boxes of upcycled greens pieces of fabric from various clothing items I had been given or purchased. I wanted to whittle them down to only 2 boxes. I had had multiple boxes. However, I did find my greens a LOT harder to use than my blues.

But this one pleased me - a whole lot. Maybe I just like green and pink together!

Anyway, it is a basic pattern - I already have it written up from when I did quilts out of dad’s shirts after he passed away in 2015. It is hardly unique or new to me - it is a perfect block for a Jelly Roll strip or other 2.5” pieces of fabric scraps.

This one is another one that turned out better than I had hoped. I was pleased with the boxes as they turned out. As I mentioned, maybe I just like the burst of color that the hot pink provided to the quilt.

The backing is pieced - all second-hand fabric.

The quilt roll - once again - turned out super nice. I used a lot of florals in this one and to add softness, I threw in the pink.

I was working on my curls and swirls with this one - and here is a close up.

More views.

While I liked the quilt I made out of my dad’s shirts, this one actually makes me smile.

It’s a pretty big one!

More close ups.

Close ups of the quilting. I’ve gotten better- still need to improve, but it’s not hard with the long arm - just a different skill set than when quilting with a domestic machine and moving the quilt instead of the machine.

I did use 80/20 batting on this one - so it is a thinner quilt when finished. I’m doing more of these big ones with that batting as I learn the machine better. It is easier to quilt with it as it is thinner than with all poly batting.

Since this is part of my Upcycled Greens series, I do like to show it as hopefully it is getting done.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this! Thanks for coming along!
