June 2023 Strips cutting report

This month’s report is less than previously.

Amazingly, that is because I think for now, anyway, I’ve mostly caught up from all the bags and bags of things to trim.

However, I’m thinking I have a place in my sewing room that I’ve got more to gather and take downstairs to cut but that will be for July. Naturally, however, I will continue to create more things to trim up as I sew or cut backings. But, if it really true that I’m caught up from the volume of previously created scraps, well, that’s awfully good news. It really does leave me more time to use up these strips I’ve been creating.

I feel like lately that I’m starting to notice that some of my bags have less in them than they did. That’s good, actually.

Anyway, this month I did cut up this much. Not much really.

2.5” - 2.86 lbs.

2” - 0.55 lbs.

1.5” - 0.66 lbs.

And that means so far in 2023 I’ve cut up this much. I’ve been keeping track on this table.

If the rest of the year is less, well, that is not because I’m being lazy - it is because there is actually less to cut. We’ll see, however. Maybe I’ll uncover some more bags of things to trim down.

Here is the table where I started keeping track of how many strips I have cut up going back to 2016.

And while this month’s cutting is much more modest, I can represent the 2.5” strips with these Jelly Roll strips if each strip is about 16 oz. I will just round it to three (3) - strips rolls.

But even if I were able to buy one for only $10 each - that would be $30 worth. Most of this fabric in this cutting is kind of just ‘meh. Many are just cutting down the trimmings from charity quilts. I saved out the larger cut-off pieces to give to Ewa who will cut them into 6” squares for her mom to make into charity quilts! Since I have about 50 meters of each of these, I will get very tired of seeing them before I’m done - so I’m really quite glad to share them with Ewa who can cut them for her mom.

And that’s it for this month!

Thanks again for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
