A very special donation quilt!
Today when I was at the store, helping out. Rachael called me over and said that a lady was here to give me a quilt for Ukraine.
Let me give the back story to this.
A lady named Vonnie Maytum had won a quilt that had been made for a charity fund raiser for Ukraine. The quilt was in Ukrainian colors and was a queen size quilt.
The quilt was made by a group called FUME - from New Port Richey.
But Vonnie didn’t really need such a big quilt - as she has downsized and couldn’t really use it. She wanted to know if we could pass it on or use it in a profitable way to help more Ukrainians.
Today she came into the store to give us the quilt. So here we are.
Thank you so much - everyone who has been involved in this extra wonderful gift.
I called this one a Special Donation quilt because this one was given twice. The first time, the money it got was given to Ukraine and the second time, the quilt will be given to those most affected.
The quilt will find a home with a Ukrainian family who will truly appreciate it. We know how much work this particular quilt was and I will do my best to make sure it finds a good home!
While in the store I’ve had several of you all come up to me and tell me how wonderful I am and to say thanks for all I’ve done to help Ukraine. I think it is very sweet of you all - but really feels over the top. I don’t feel particularly special nor do I feel like I need any special thanks. I think anything I’ve done - many of you would have done the same.
But thanks for stopping me and talking with me. That helps me know that you all are involved and know what is happening. Plus, I know that those of you who are thanking me are also the same people who often have either made pillowcases or quilts yourselves and donated them. For sure I couldn’t have done what I (we) did, without those donations.
Thank you again - and thanks for coming along with me on this journey!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
