Ten MORE Charity tops!

Here are the next ten charity tops I’ve been doing something with (sometimes “something” means only measuring it and making sure it is the size I need if it is a donated top that has been recently uncovered).

Among other things, this is what I’ve been working on. This, along with working on my sewing room - bit by bit.

And now that I’ve been digging around in my sewing room, guess what? Yes, I’ve found more things to cut up into strips.

And now I’m getting itchy fingers to start working on some more 2.5” quilt tops. :) Figures.

But that’s fine.

I’m writing on the bottom of each of these photos what I actually did with these tops. They were pretty much all donated tops - or at least centers - well, minus the two that are all farm panels. I did do something on each of these tops, though (besides measuring them, naturally).

I wanted to say that many of these tops - I don’t know who gave them to me. I know that I found several in Rachael’s stuff in FL - and I figured they were meant for me so I brought them along in our suitcases (some of the ones below). I have no idea who donated. The chances that it is one of you who are reading is pretty slim, probably. Also, some of these have been in my sewing room for well more than a year - so there’s that. I am sure some of these were sent to me in boxes and possibly some were sent along with some of the quilts that were sent for Ukraine.

Click the arrow to move to the next one. I took off the automatically moving feature so you could take whatever time you need to read the bottom of each photo.

Some of you are probably wondering why I’m doing so many of these right now. I mean, I have things to do (other than this).

However, the biggest reason is that in my efforts to clean up my sewing room, these things were just sitting there - on top. So, why not? By finishing some of these up, I am clearing out some space in my sewing room so I can actually get to the floors and walls. Each day I’m working in there and trying to uncover more space.

I had hoped to have it cleared out in a week, but failed to meet my goal. However, I am a lot farther along than I was a week ago - and a lot more done than if I hadn’t worked in there at all!

However, some of the stuff is just “moved” to other places. But then again, some of it just needs to be moved (for example, fabric that needs to be refolded neatly —ruler folded— and put back on shelves in my fabric room. I also have backing pieces ready to take down to the long arm room and scraps that need to be trimmed into strips - and they will make their way to the table where I cut.)

I have taken a few things “out” and donated to my husband for burning. They were some of his very old jeans - have been sitting on my shelf for several years waiting to be cut up. However, when my husband gives me his jeans, it’s only after they are literally ratty (holey and patched multiple times) and I decided I have much better denim fabric to work with - so that cleaned out some space on a shelf. That’s the kind of thing I have to do. Next time I’ll take off the 501 label - as his jeans are all Levi 501. And just like all cleanouts - everything is a decision. And I’m not really wanting to just “get rid of” - just trying to organize and get things put in better places than just “on top of a pile”.

I have even managed to finish up about 10 pillowcases I started last spring before I got all of your pillowcases you donated so kindly to Ukrainians. Once I got the motherlode of pillowcases from FL, I quit making mine. however, I had several (10-15) started. I’ve been finishing those.

And that’s it for today. Have a great day wherever you are reading.

Thanks for coming along with me on this journey!
