“Not sure what to call it” - using 2.5" blocks top

In my cleanup of my room I came across about 4 of these blocks. I had wanted to make something with them years ago now, but never decided on a layout. I knew I could come up with literally dozens of these if needed since they came right out of the 2.5” strips bags.

So here goes. I finally made myself sit down and decide.

I laid these out as if they were a small bargello using only 5 colors in each of the blocks.

But truthfully, all I really wanted was the white down the middle and little strips of color paralleling it. I just found this an easier way to make the blocks.

But what I was trying to do was dress up the blocks a bit.

So, naturally I turned to sashings and cornerstones.

So I had to make a simple rail fence sashing. Then I used my favorite 9 patch cornerstones.

I laid it out first on the floor trying to get a good balance of the yellows and oranges.

If you have any idea for a name for the quilt - I’d love to hear it. Please let me know in the comments what name you’d suggest.

So, here is the final top.

This top finishes at 93”x107”.

Here are more photos.

I did just go to my 2.5” strips bags and pulled out the colors that I was looking for. That was a very good feeling. Obviously if you used a jelly roll or a half yard bundle packs, you’d have an even more color coordinated look.

This one works for me. Because I added all those sashings and cornerstones, it did take a while once the main blocks were done.

This one was taken before I added the borders to the sides.

Here is the layout.

Once again - if you have any ideas for a name for this pattern - I’d love to hear it!

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading!
