"Shadowed Cats"

This quilt top was made in 2023 when I was working on getting smallish miscellaneous things out of my sewing room. I had these cat blocks already cut. I knew that I wanted to make a simple shadowed block out of them.

I’ve made the shadowed block many times.

I used a tiger print on the back. I thought it appropriate.

I just love these novelty prints. So adorable!

I have been considering what to do with this one and I’m considering contributing it to the charity sale they have in Nov/Dec for local sick children in our town. I may have trouble coming up with special quilts just for it at that time due to possible plans for our fall. So…I thought I could put this one aside for it. Plus, it’s so cute with the cats - maybe someone would actually pay something for it!

The quilting -

If you want to know how to make a shadowed quilt, I have several. Let me link at least a couple of them here.

The block on this quilt looks like this. It is 5” once it is finished. Let me just share with you the dimensions of the pieces as you need to cut them in order to make this block.

Simply sew these pieces together and build your block. Once your pieces are all made, go ahead and put the blocks together with some sashing and call it done. It will make a great I Spy type quilt or just a way to make various prints work together as one.

I hope that helps.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
