“Sunny Lanes” - an OLD top finally finished!

I was able to get this top finished a little while ago after having it hanging around for over 10 years - more like 12 or even more!

I had made three similar tops probably in 2011. Then in 2012, I finished two of them - they are here. I made the three tops with yellow, blue, and red. I finished up the blue and red ones.

I then shoved the yellow one in a drawer on a shelf somewhere and managed to ignore it for literally years!

Years and years!

I decided I had ENOUGH! Enough’s enough of having all these unfinished quilt tops sitting around. I wanted to see them finished.

So, I decided that “Finished is good enough” for this one - forget perfection. I have had a lot of idealistic thinking in my mind about a lot of things, but I decided for my own mental welfare, it was important to kind of clear the shelves. If the Lord gives me health, I can work on perfection with other quilt tops I make.

So, it is done.

The block is found here.

I do not know - I may end up using this one as a charity quilt, but at this point, I’m not counting it as such as it doesn’t really fit the sizes I’ve been trying to aim for. It gets very confusing to the people if I offer quilts of all different sizes. It is easier when it is time to give them away if they are pretty much either the single or the double.

Here are some photos of this quilt. I’m just calling it Sunny Lanes in Yellow.

I quilted it with loops.

You can see even years and years ago that I liked making 16 patches of scrappy blocks and adding sashing and other things to make the quilt blocks. It just works for me.

I did make up the border by myself - wanting to use up even more squares. :) Obviously by the time I had done three of them - well, it wasn’t hard for me to figure it out.

In the end, I really do like it! It’s bright and cheery and certainly brought sunshine into my day when I took the photos - a very overcast day!

Here’s the quilt roll:

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.

Oh wait - before you go - can you please go over here and follow the instructions and vote for Quilted Twins? We need about 500 votes to catch up with some of the others. That’s not hard at all if even a few of you would vote! Thanks. You can only vote once, so if you have done so, don’t worry about doing it again. Thanks!
