“Stringy Zigzag”
I made this quilt out of strips that were cut off fabric that I was straightening for my sis when in Florida a while ago (2021). Because the fabric was all Kaffe, I decided to keep all the little pieces. And little they were.
I ended up making string blocks and then trimmed them down and made half square triangles from them.
I used up all the blocks and this is the largest quilt I could make out of it.
I matched up with the purple solid fabric I had to help the blocks show up better.
I quilted it quite tightly because it was made of so many very small pieces. I wanted the fabric to have the support of a lot of quilting, helping keep things in place.
So here we are.
By quilting it so tightly, I made the quilt quite thin. :) The final product actually feels like it is made with cotton batting instead of polyester which tends to be a bit thicker than the cotton batting ones.

It’s not a large quilt - you can see how little it is compared to so many of my other quilts that I hang on this line.
But here are a few close ups so you can see how small those pieces really are.
Here, at last, is the quilt roll.
It is so interesting to see the differences in the purple/lavender fabric I use. But, it is all the same fabric - just different lighting.
I made it simply with string HST (half square triangles) blocks, so I called it “Stringy Zigzag”. It is such a unique quilt, I did not think a pattern is actually called for.
The original blog post showed all the steps I took in order to make this one. That’s here.
Thanks again so much for coming along with me on this journey!
