"Blazing Stars"

I came across the main blocks in my sewing room in 2023. I had made them previously but couldn’t decide what to do with them, so I stuffed them into a crack or cranny somewhere.

Then, I decided that “Now was the time” to do something with them. “Becky, make a decision and finish these.” I told myself.

So I did.

The star effect is created with the sashing and cornerstones. This time I used yellow to form the center cornerstones - to help them look like stars.

This beautiful rose fabric is great as the backing on this quilt.

The sashing blocks may have taken almost as much work as the main blocks. The main blocks feature 2.5” squares and a 1” inner strip around the center 2.5” block. The free pattern is uploaded and is here.

I was glad to finally use these blocks which had literally been aging in my sewing room!

The quilt roll:

I just used simple loops. I figured this one was so busy, I didn’t need to do fancy quilting.

Overall, in the end, I did like how this one turned out. I would give this one a good 7/10 as it is interesting and has something to look at as you look it more and more. My actual quilt, however. Somehow it feels like it has too much pink in it. LOL

I made this one before I had sorted all those 2.5” strips, so I didn’t really reach too far to get a variety of colorful strips. I kind of wish I had. It’s okay - I’m not asking you to tell me it is fine - but it kind of niggles at my mind that it could be prettier. I mean, I like pink….so…there’s that.

But it’s a scrap quilt and I used up a lot of squares. Oh, and it has a new home already! Win/win!

I hope you like it as much as I do. This one is part of the 2.5” series which is shown below.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
