Took the Weekend Off for our Son's Ordination!

Timothy, our second son, was ordained on Sunday up in Greenville, SC at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. We were able to be there for it.

I am not sure if you realize how it works, but in our circles, first the potential ordainee has a questioning about his doctrinal statement. Then during the service of the actual ordination, the church has a special service. In this case, they had special music, some special addresses to the people and then part of the service where other pastors/elders put their hands on the young man and pray over him.

These services don’t happen very often, really, and each one is a bit different.

However, I took quite a few pictures. Let me show you.

We did drive up on Friday. My husband had just been in Alaska and came back quite tired from that. But thankfully, we made it safely to South Carolina and spent some time with our children who all came for it.

I teased Daniel, Jessica and Lydia by asking them to hold up Tim’s doctrinal statement and asked, “So what do Petersens do when they get together? Read doctrinal statements, of course!” :)

I took some pictures during the actual service. Tim and 4 deacons were getting ordained.

Tim is on the right with the red tie and beard.

After the laying on of hands, there was an address to the ordainees.

Afterwards the kids all took some photos.

From left - Lydia, Jessica Bl and Daniel Petersen, Tim and Claire Petersen, Abigail and Zachary Rausch, Jessica Br and Jeremiah Petersen

and then just our children without spouses. This was their idea, by the way.

I’m so thankful for all of them - and their spouses!

There were some official photos taken, but these are just ones I took with my camera!

So there you are. Tim was also given a nice new Bible. I didn’t show nearly all the photos I took, but after all, they kind of all sort of look alike, so I figured I put up enough.
