This is another of the quilts finished this year from my 2.5” strips bags!

This quilt is a combination of a simple 9 patch quilt and quilts like we’ve made with the color going on the diagonal. It seems like I tend to make the colors going downhill from the left down to the right. I decided to mix it up a bit this time and just make it go up from the left to the right!

I’m not writing a pattern for this at this point as it is just too easy - as the 9 patches are simply arranged by color on the diagonal and it is sashed with cut 2.5” strips. The blocks are 6.5” before being sewn together.

I went through my scraps and chose out these colors and managed to have enough to make these blocks so I could do that!

It’s not a large quilt, unlike most of mine as I did just make this one a twin size. I figured a girl who is between 10 and 20 might like this! (Maybe even guys)

I quilted it with a stippled simply because I want to get better with my stippling. I believe I’ve gotten okay with my simple swirls, but I want to make my stippling better. I think I’ll do more. It’s actually quite a bit harder than loops to make them look nice. I also think stippling looks better on a flatter batting than this polyester. But it’s what I have.

I guess we’ll see. But it is finished. There is a young lady in the church who is Ukrainian - I actually thought she might like it - she’s about 11.

I’m going to try to not let my quilts accumulate but as I finish them, I will keep trying to find homes for them. Obviously I can slap a charity quilt label on them and call it good as well.

Of course the hard thing about black is that it shows up everything! I mean, white thread and little bits of this and that and all the colored threads—everything except black, naturally.

I bound it with scraps of various lengths of strips of these colors.

In the end - I really do like it. I like the “idea” of the 9 patches on the diagonal by color and I like that I kept them to the colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.

I used green, blue and purple which supposedly is analogous. It’s supposedly three colors next to each other on the color wheel.
