2026 Charity Tops #191-200
I truly am slowing down now. My mom asked me when I was going to be done with these. I told her when I finish the bag of little strips that I got from a lady (Ewa) at the beginning of March. I had JUST finished the other strips from the church storage area when Ewa dropped off two more bags. I was almost desperate to finish them and then I got more. I was happy/sad.
Maybe you understand. Happy that I was getting help, but it meant a lot more work for me to get back to “done” with the strips. I was trying to actually catch up!
I am now finishing up those last two bags - well, I hope to actually finish them up in the next few days. When I finish with these, then I can begin to turn my focus to a few other things. And I will say that I mentioned to my husband even if I get given another couple of bags very soon, I will store them for a while since I just can’t use them right now. I don’t want to make half of my next year’s charity quilt tops all the same style, so I don’t want to quilt up 60 of these for next year. That means I do need to make OTHER types of tops and then mix it up more. I already have boxes and boxes of things I need to work on finishing up which will provide that variety.
So, never fear - I won’t. Making these tops has been pretty time consuming and I’m kind of tired of them.
I am aware enough to know that I need to keep myself interested if I am going to keep working hard. If I make myself burn out from doing all the same thing for a too long of time, I will begin to hate it and start avoiding my machine. I don’t want to do that. I actually will not allow myself to do that as I have too many other (fun) projects I want to do.
My husband just laughs at me when I say these kinds of things because he knows, and I know, that these are all self-imposed goals. :)
LOL
He’s right.
But I then told him, “Remember the Bible verse that says, “The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul”? Well, it’s true. But when I finish up this bag of strips, my desire will have been accomplished as far as these kinds of tops.
Once again - while I didn’t make the majority of the tops shown below, I did something to each of the ones shown.
The strips ones, I took the strips that were already joined and added them to 6.5”xWOF cut strips of menswear fabric we have had since 2017. They all make wonderful quilts and I always put something nice on the backs of these tops. This way even if the tops are less than stellar, in my opinion, there is always the other side.
All bagged up and ready to go to the wardrobe at the church building.
And once again - more recipients of the charity quilts in the long past. Sometimes I think we’ve “quilted” Otwock! :)
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
