Charity Quilt update - end of Week 2+

I spent a lot of time here this week.

I worked on a variety of tops! I had chosen to use up the tops I had in my store room upstairs at church no matter if a lot of them were the same design. I mean, after all, I do want them all to get made into quilts - so while I am the person who gets most tired of repeating designs it doesn’t mean that others do when they choose one.

I always put something really nice on all the backs, so people can truly have a reversible quilt. They are used to reversible duvet covers here, so it is really a good thing to give people a nice design on one side and patchwork on the other.

But I had had a lot of the quilt tops that I made with those little strips. I mean, a LOT of them! I remember making them a while ago now and am thrilled that I do have them ready to go. Let me show you what I mean - look to the right - it’s the quilt on the frame.

I then checked upstairs at the church and found that I have a lot of these tops upstairs in the room - already finished. But as I said, it’s okay. I wanted to use all of these up and now I am forced to head back to my tops that Fran has sent me and add some borders to them. They will be beautiful and give me all the variety that I liked to have. So that is good.

I do so appreciate all of you who have helped me by making tops. Some of the nicest, most beautiful tops are ones you all have done. My last one for this group of charity quilts was that tans and burgundy one shown above in the little slide show. It was super nice to work on and the person did a beautiful job.

If you are that person - thank you so much! It will be cherished! I was astonished that someone would donate such a gorgeous top to us!

Tuq, our cat, was certainly enjoying the piles as they grew and grew.

I did not get any more trimmed, but I did finish all 120 quilts - the quilting part. I just did simple loops and maybe one or two meanders. I found that I was breaking thread a bit more with stippling than with loops, so I stuck to the loops. So this coming week, I hope to get them all trimmed up and make a good start on the binding/washing/photography.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this jrouney.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
