What's Up wtih my Machine?
I don’t know.
You tell me.
Last time I had the Juki repairman come to my house he told me that there was only ONE of these Juki machines sold to anyone in Poland.
That had to have been the person who got it before me.
I bought it second hand.
Let me share with you my issues.
While quilting the big 100”x104” quilt the other day, I had issues starting about 3 hours in.
The machine started going up and down when I told it to stop. I had to turn it off to stop it from going even though I was pushing nothing. Normally when you hit a button, it stops going. Didn’t work.
It was making a racket.
It was struggling when I tried to baste with it.
Now in all of this, it was sewing - at least for a while.
Then, I couldn’t get it to go anywhere at all.
Then my husband just suggested stopping. Maybe it was overheating somehow.
So I did and went upstairs.
The next morning after having the night off, the machine worked again - for awhile, but I noticed even after sewing for only a short time, it was going to give me issues as the needle kept going up and down even when I didn’t want it to go anymore.
But I finished the quilt and then turned the machine off.
I did not not even baste the last little bit because I was afraid it would not work right if I did that first. I just held the bottom of the quilt while I quilted the last little bit.
(Of course the problem with the idea that I have the only machine in Poland like this - it doesn’t make me feel special - it makes me feel alone. It means the repairman has never seen anything like it before.)
So we go.
Yes, I will have the guy come back. I just didn’t have the heart to do it this week. He was here for 5 hours last time and changed out some things, but since he’d never seen one of these machines before, he wasn’t an expert with all the cables, etc. He did put in a new bobbin case, and did other things. At least at that point, I could use the machine again.
I’m all ears. I’m about to try to deal with it again. For now I’ve been busy trying to get ready for my son and his family to come over to Poland, so other things are taking precendence these days - like clearing out a room that had become a hoarder room so there is room for some of them to sleep!
I’ll let you know when it all gets fixed. My tops are starting to collect again! :)
