Where Do you Keep all Your Quilts?
I was watching a video by a You tuber and she was/is categorizing all of her older quilts - antique - she calls them. I think she is up to 118 of them.
I wonder where she keeps them all.
I’ve run into problems again in my house with no more room.
I recently have been working in my rooms to clean them up, organize better and clear out some unwanted items. The rooms I’m actually referring to are my kids’ old bedrooms. They have been housing fabric and second hand fabrics. I’ve needed to clear out a lot!
I was able to clean out my sons’ old closet and put 19 quilts in there.
Nineteen! Yes. But they will be hard to get to. But I had fun folding them to fit and putting them in that spot.
I then put a few right beside the fabric area, but I am unhappy with that group’s location. They are favorites.
I also have some under the bed in my main fabric room. A few.
Then in my daughters’ old rooms, I took out all the second hand items there and put in quilts.
39 to be exact.
I then have a bunch stacked up on the other side of the bed in that room. If you sleep here do you feel claustrophic? I don’t know. I’ve never slept in that room.
But wait…
I decided to refold them all. I marked out the size of the table top on my dining room table in order to get the right size.
I think there are about 40 quilts here
This doesn’t count the 5 or 6 we have in our bedroom!
I also gave away a few this week, put labels on four big ones and put them into charity quilts and have a few designated to send back to the states to Rachael.
So tell me, where do you put all of your quilts?
Please?
Are you someone who gives away all your quilts? If you do, I get it, then you don’t have this issue.
But I do.
I’m thinking about what I can do. I guess I just keep having to pass along more quilts. I keep going through and giving away more and more. Doesn’t look like it, though, does it! These that I spend a lot of time on, however, become like children. When I make something for the sheer joy of making and creating, I do tend to get attached. When I make something from the beginning for someone else, or for charity, I do not get attached. I guess it is weird.
I am going to be finishing another 10+ of those Stephanie Slewinski fabric quilts - will try to find a lot of homes for those. :) I was folding up the tops today to put them down in the long arm room and I was taken by actually how pretty they are! HMMM.
But I’m curious - where do you keep your quilts? Are they hidden in every closet and on every couch/chair?
Tell me in the comments.
Thanks!
I’m all ears!
