Projects Found - Pockets

As I was cleaning out the two rooms (I can always do some more clearing out), I did find these pockets.

What can I do with them?

I’ve decided to make a couple - or at least one - quilts the size that I like for charity. Then I could use them as charity quilts and maybe I could make sure that they are guy friendly as much as possible.

I did not want to have to make or use too many pockets, so I opted to cut the sashings 3.5”x6.5” as the pockets were cut 6.5”x6.5”. This means that I only need 54 pockets for one top. I have plenty. I mean PLENTY of pockets. By making them sort of simple, I think they will be a quick one. I will quilt these on my domestic with straight line quilting as I don’t want to use the long arm nor do I need to. Obviously I do not want to close the pockets so I just need to quilt on the sashing strips.

I have 2 or 3 bags of these pockets separated into a bag of 54 pockets cut to 6.5”. Probably the hardest part will be actually putting the pockets in the top itself because of the variety of colors.

I will just put sashing on each side of the blocks and then won’t have any actual borders except along the top and bottom.

While these are not actually “old blocks”, what happened is that while cleaning out that room before my son and his wife arrived, I had to make a final decision about the pieces I found. If I was going to keep them, then I HAD to use them. If not, I had to get rid of them - move them out of my house. I opted to trim them to 6.5” and make charity tops out of them simply for the “cool” factor.

I am kind of wondering if anyone will actually want such a quilt. I guess I’ll see! :)

So this is yet another one of the remaining quilt blocks I have put together and need to get together into a quilt top - hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
