"Impressionist Wreaths" in 2.5"
I finished it!
The pattern is already here except that the linked pattern was written for 2” strips. BUT it will be the same layout and design. Since it is only one block, there is no reason you can’t use this pattern except remember to use 2.5” strips.
Impressionist Wreaths using 2” strips (finish at 1.5”)
This one is the same quilt as this one shown on the right but the one on the right is made with the smaller blocks.
I really like it in the smaller blocks.
But I decided to try this one with larger squares. After all, I’ve mentioned before that I have so.many.2.5” strips.
Yes I do.
So I made this top.
And I just recently finished the quilt.
It’s hanging here on my line.
This particular design doesn’t look like much until you can see it from afar anyway, but with the 2.5” squares, I could hardly see the design at all as it was just lying on the table.
However, once it was on the line, wow, it just was so obvious - and I liked it! Of course the problem is, people generally don’t use a quilt that is hanging on a line - they use it on their bed and like to see designs.
But I’ve seen other quilts like that as well. In fact, my sis didn’t even recognize a simiple Irish chain when she first saw it (with 2.5” squares) several years ago.
But that is often how it is when something is on our bed, isn’t it?
This quilt is made up of only one block and the layout is this. The design is so nice because it is so flexible in using up scraps. I mean seriously. Because I used the term Impressionist, it gives you a lot of flexibility in the colorations and shades. I did use black where the dark blue is and white where it shows white. Otherwise, I used more pastely or lighter colors where it showed lighter and darker in the middle.
This particular quilt finishes at 96”x96”. I quilted with simple loops because once again, this was a very busy quilt and difficult to even see anything at all with the quilting. Plus, I used the poly batting, so it gets puffy. I end up liking the look of the little bit less puffy, but this is what I have here in Poland that is affordable. So far I’ve been unable to find a source here in Poland for a less expensive batting that would be cotton or 80/20.
I hope you have enjoyed this quilt!!! I’m pleasantly surprised by how similar it looks to the smaller version.
Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
