"Apple-licious"

I finished this quilt - a bit ago now. This is the smallest quilt I’ve finished in a long time except for baby quilts that I’ve done.

It is only about 35”x48” or so and I found it in the Quilty Fun book.

This one is another of the Lori Holt fun quilts I made in 2024. Through doing some of her ‘picture blocks’ I’ve learned a lot! (You will see that when you see the quilt I designed and made for the 2025 All Florida Shop Hop!)

I did not use all Lori Holt fabrics for these - but rather tried to find fabrics that were “similar” in feel and color to what was on her picture. Some are her fabrics, but I think the majority are not.

This quilt was fun in that apples are one of the biggest and best fruits that are grown here in Poland. We also have yellow, red in all shades of apples here. Green Granny Smith apples are my husband’s favorites as he likes sour-ish types of things.

We have some trees here in Poland though this past year we didn’t get many apples. It appears that apples have alternating years where there is a big crop and then a smaller one, etc.

I did use a lot of scrappy pieces for the binding.

I really like this quilt and it is a good quilt to either be on the wall or draped over a chair. I wish that I had made my quilt one apple wider and one apple longer just to make it a bit bigger. To me it feels like a mini quilt, almost. But I didn’t.

I used one of my favorite fabrics for the backing!

I can see with this close up cropping that there is plenty of trimming of threads I still need to do! I couldn’t even tell from my larger picture!

I quilted with wavy lines.

And I really do like it! I believe it is one I will plan on keeping. I say that but if one of my kids saw it and said they wanted it, I’m sure I would part with it - but that’s who it would take. “Other people” don’t rank as high on my “I give in to your desires” list. :) If other people walked in to my house and saw it and admired it, I’m sure I would just say, “Thank you”.

Note - if you want the Quilty Fun book by Lori Holt, Rachael has some in stock.

There are a lot of fun picture blocks in this book and plenty of ideas besides the main quilt. If you like these kinds of blocks, it is well worth the money!

This is my Lori Holt series of quilts so far.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
