December 2024 Strips Cutting Report

I did do a fair bit of trimming this month, especially compared to last month.

I won’t be trimming the rest of the month, so I wanted to go ahead and finish up this year’s totals with this report.

I cut these:

2.5” - 2.53 lbs.

2” - 0.66 lbs.

1.5” - 0.66 lbs.

This makes my totals for this year are as follows.

And the totals for the time I’ve been cutting and keeping track - here’s the table.

So you can see that this year was a bit of a down year overall. I think that was mostly because I had caught up from 2023 AND I gave a lot of my scraps to Ewa.

I was tired of looking at them and she could play with the smaller pieces I threw in bags by making some crumb quilt blocks. She sent me a pic of a quilted jacket she was working on from very small pieces! (It’s amazing - maybe after Christmas she will let me share it here.)

She was going to cut the larger strips into squares for her mom to make more charity quilts. (Leftovers from the backings from the charity quilts went to her for the most part.)

So, I’m fine with what I’ve managed to get done.

I have made some quilts this year from my 2.5” strips and squares, but not as many as I had hoped (12) - at least I don’t think I’ve finished 12. However, I’ve made some absolutely wonderful house quilts and that is something I’ve been wanting to do. So that’s a good thing. Scraps apparently will ‘always be with me’, so I’m learning not to stress about having them around.

It’s been a while since I showed you my Crumbs/Strings series. Let me show those to you in case you’ve forgotten them or haven’t seen them yet.

I kind of burned out on them as they are so slow to make and I’ve not gone back to them. I’m not in the mood to work with them yet, though I have a bag of tropical fabrics with very small pieces that almost makes me want to work with them! So, I’m coming around - but just not there yet.

Thank you once again for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
