"Prairie Crochet" finished
This pattern is in in the Lori Holt Prairie Home book that we have at Quilted Twins.
I did not use a Lori Holt fabric for the background - but instead used a solid that I could get here in Poland.
One of the reasons I tend to do so many scrappy quilts is because I do not often end up with more than 2 or 3 yards of any one fabric unless it is from here in Poland. So, when that happens, if I can find something to use as background from something easily available for me, then I will - if the look will be what I want.
The other fabrics in this top are all Lori Holt, if I remember right.
The blocks were fun to make, but I did have to keep the pattern in front of me as I worked - right up until the end.
I did get faster making the blocks after I made a few but I still had to keep checking the pattern.
A close up of the blocks:
Once again - the pattern for this quilt is in the Lori Holt book linked above. It isn’t hard, however. Those are all 2.5” squares and if you want to follow the grid, you can see the blocks shown above.
In fact, this is a block that I never really could do without having the layout in front of me!
When you look at the blocks as I am showing it - it is super easy to see the design. However, due to the way they are, as you are working, it is not as easy to just see it as you work.
However, these blocks are huge when finished, so this whole quilt only uses 16 blocks, so it does go together relatively quickly!
I really did work on quilting up many of my quilts before leaving to go to the states, but I simply ran out of time to get them all done.
Here is my Lori Holt series so far.
My long arm was put to bed and covered for a few weeks. I cleaned up my room, swept, and organized so when I come back to it, it will al look nice!
