February 2026 Strips cutting report

I have been so incredibly busy this month - but not necessarily cutting strips!

So here’s what I’ve gotten done! Once again, I’ve not done a lot because I’ve been working on finishing up a lot of things - like quilting, and not necessarily doing the things that generate all those strips. In fact, I have my strips that are cut off from the charity quilts placed neatly together. I haven’t dealt with any of them yet. What I’ve not done much of is piecing, except for the charity tops - and I guess they are generating leftovers, but I pull from the leftovers for the next charity quilt, so I’m not ready to deal with most of those pieces yet.

Enough talking! This is what I did.

2.5” - 1.25 lbs.

2” - 0.41 lbs.

1.5” - 0.25 lbs.

I will probably not do as much this year for a couple of reasons - hopefully I can use a lot of my scraps in other projects, almost immediately, but also, I don’t have a huge backlog of scraps to cut up. And that makes me very happy.

Not that I don’t have a lot of strips that I can use - I have plenty. I have bags and bags of them! I’ve got some more ideas for 2.5” quilts - but once again - lots of everything seems to be in the works! Slight exaggeration, naturally.

I’m so grateful I do have these strips. They made making all those bindings relatively quick - at least as quick as making 120 bindings can be! :) They are ready for me to start binding the charity quilts, which will start soon. Our snow has been melting and taking pictures during the daytime temps in the 50s is a lot more pleasant than in the 30’s or 20’s (F)! I only say that because once I start finishing them, I will wash them, photograph them and move them on to the church building for storage.

And just a reminder - I did use my 2” strips as the reason for that 2” series. Here it is. And while I still have 2” strips, I’ve kind of switched my focus over to 2.5” strips now as I want to whittle those bags down. Most of these patterns are on the free patterns page on our website..

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
