Next 10 Charity tops Ready to go! (51-60)

I am so happy to see some more bins getting filled up at the church building. I was able to pretty much fill up the next one with the added single size tops I had this time.

I’m going to do like before and share with you what I did to these tops. Many times other people make the centers of the tops and I have to do things to expand the tops to make the size I am going for. People here don’t really undrestand the concept of a lap quilt, so I don’t confuse people by offering something that is not big enough to cover the average person comfortably.

I had these all ready to go to the church on Sunday for our afternoon Bible study. I put the bags right in front of the door so I couldn’t accidentally walk out the door without them.

Oh yes, I’ve done that before and it makes a big pain for me.

Why? Well, often if I take it to church when other people are there, there is one or two men who will carry the bags up the stairs for me. It’s helpful and I appreciate it! Otherwise, I get to do it.

And that happened today! One guy carried all three of these bags upstairs at once. There were close to 30 tops here shown above (yestedays’ tops as shown on the blog plus today’s plus the extra ones I took out of my long arm room.) The ones are made with a combination of men’swear and strips can be much heavier than others.

Anyway, here are the next ten tops that I can show you that I got ready to quilt.

Let me say that I’m just glad that I’m the one going to quilt these as I wouldn’t be able to hand most of these over to a regular long arm quilter and expect them to quilt them nicely. It is also helpful to use puffy poly batting - very helpful.

I don’t know that you can see any difference yet in the room, but I know at least on a miniscule level, it is better than it was. How? Well, I brought home several pieces of the men’swear to cut up PLUS, I brought home a bag of those little strips to iron up during our cheap time (we have a two-tiered system of electricity and I try to do this kind of stuff during our less expensive hours). I still have last week’s little strips to sew up. I am least starting to see the light at the end oif the tunnel on the little strips. A tiny little light anyway.

Soon that big dark green/black bag will be taken away and used up as I have a bunch more of those little strips in there - but hopefully I can take that bag home in a few days and start to tackle them. These is also a trunk UNDER the Polish bag that has a bunch of tops in it that can be emptied out and I can put finished tops in it as the things in the trunk are not ready to quilt. So far I’ve not needed the space but soon I will.

So far anyway, all the loose misc. tops you see sitting around haven’t been measured and made sure they fit into either the single or doubles category. Once I make sure, and add borders if needed, I will put them neatly away in a tote or bin. That way, it will look ever so much better in that room. I knew it had gotten bad in that room, but the state it is in now is beyond ridiculous.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
