The next 10 Charity tops

I went to the building on Friday to pick up some things and put the 20 tops I had ready to store in my containers (the ones I shared last week).

Here’s the current status of that room - and this is why I’ve felt the pressure about it.

I still need to get up there and spend an hour or two and just organize it. Of course the part of me that says, “Just make up all the tops and fold them nicely and they will be organized” is fighting with the part that says, “Just organize the mess and you will feel better and it is alot faster than actually adding borders to all of these!” I’m trying to bring home the equivalent of a bag full of these tops. I’ve decided to try to tackle it that way - and then work on the tops. It may take me 6 months at that rate to get these all dealt with as I’m really just trying to go through them without taking over my life and other quilting.

I’ve got some other projects I want to do.

But here are the next ten charity quilt tops I finished up recently.

Either I made them by using the strips that Ewa and her mom made in combination with the men’swear fabrics, or I added borders to tops I was already given.

Each of these has been given at least a press of some sort before I folded it up and stored it.

When I just stored the the rolls and rolls of strips that I was given to use, I just threw (placed) the back in the room so I could focus at home. I just put them out of my mind figuring I’d get “in the mood” at some point to use them up.

Well, currently I’m in that mood - and so excited to get those strips all made into tops. It’s a two-fer. I use up the strips PLUS that menswear fabric - at least some of it. And these make really warm quilts which is wonderful for here in Poland!

I know they look a bit messy right now but I do use polyester batting and it fills in any extra space very nicely and they end up making wonderful quilts! Last year in December, after I had had our give away, I was asked by our local social agency if I had any more quilts and I had to regretfully tell her that I had given away all 191 quilts. :( :) That was great, but it meant I didn’t have any for her to give older shut-ins in our town. So, once I get the 120 done, I may just whip up an extra 20 of so and save them for area people and social workers who need them for their clients.

I piled them up, took a stacked up photo and then carried them to the church building in those wonderfully handy, strong bags we have here.

I’m excited about what I am going to get to work on this week. The last couple of weeks I’ve spent considerable time quilting charity quilts, but now I will turn to getting several of my own quilts quilted. I can taste how close I am to getting caught up from the time I got my long arm. I mean, comparatively, I am so close - with possibly about 20 of my own left to get caught up. I have some Upcycled Greens left to quilt and some other random ones - including 2.5” ones and more Lori Holt tops.

So stick with me. I have felt like I’ve just been barely hanging on with being so far behind from being back in Florida again in December/January.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.

have a great day wherever you are reading this!
