Next ten charity tops!
While I’ve been at it, I have been churning out the charity tops - meaning, adding borders to the center smaller ones PLUS making the striped ones using strips from Ewa and her mom in conjunction with the menswear fabrics I have already.
Here they are!
After I put these in the room, I went ahead and took another picture. I was able to spend 10 minutes in the room before our afternoon Bible study and picked out some of the plastic bins that are empty and got them in position, ready for more tops to go in them. They are on top of that one plastic bin (which is full of ready to go quilt tops!).
Here are some more strips rolls that are waiting to be tackled. They’ve been in the room for a while.
Maybe more than a year.
Here are some more pictures of the rest of the room.
It will get better, though. Hopefully it is at about the worst it is going to look because week by week it should be better very gradually.
I did pick out about another 20 tops to bring home, measure and add borders as necessary - trying to focus on Fran’s tops which have been waiting a while!
One great bit of news. A lady who received a quilt from us back in November has started coming to church. She’s Ukrainian. Well, she loves to sew and last week I asked her if she would consider helping me add borders to the tops I have because I have “so much work to do”. I took her up to this room and showed her. I then asked her if she would at least try to add borders to two tops, then I would bring the top and the fabric next week and she could take it to her house and try to do it. She could see what she thought and if all goes well - if she’s happy and I am happy, it would be wonderful if she could help. She agreed, so this week - a couple of days ago — I gave her two tops to add borders to - they were pretty easy ones as I didn’t want to scare her away! Anyway, the lady who said she would help me is the one in a black coat.
I also worked myself down to the bottom plastic bin on the right of my pile and in it are a bunch more tops that need to be dealt with. I just closed it back up and am pretending I didn’t see them for right now while I deal with my two bags of tops this week. LOL
Shown below.
Anyway, thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey.
Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
Note - Please don’t feel discouraged for me - as I’m actually relieved to be getting going on this! I’m hoping to get a real handle on this room!
