Quilts of Valor Presentation At Quilted Twins
A few days ago we had a presentation of 7 Quilts of Valor (QOV) at the Quilted Twins Sewin’ Shop.
We didn’t know any of the people receiving the quilts personally (Rachael or I), but we thoroughly enjoyed the presentation.
It was moving. One of the men, who was a vet of the Vietnam War and had been in the military for 13+ years said that this was the first time he had been acknowledged and appreciated for his years in the service.
They did an about face as well so we could see their quilts from the back.
That was touching, especially as he was an older gentleman with some issues walking. I had tears in my eyes as he was talking and saying thank you for the quilt.
We also took a picture of the recipients plus a nice group from the Quilts of Valor.
Over all, the entire program lasted only about 35 minutes as they kept it moving along quite well. Everyone was there before 11, so we started about 5 minutes early.
This was the first time I had been to a QOV presentation though I saw one from afar at Daytona in early 2025.
I did want to say a special thank you to any of you who have made such a quilt - whether it is an official QOV or some of the other groups out there who do similar things. I learned that the official QOV organization has given out over 400,000 quilts over the years. I think that is amazing, as it started with one woman back in 2003, so that’s really not that long ago. I guess I thought it was longer ago than that!

They chose to do a presentation at our shop because of the almost 100 quilts we gave them through our last year’s summer challenge quilt. We were honored to have them.
Consider making such a quilt if you’ve never done it. It was moving to see the recipients, and we were blessed to have 2 women who received quilts1 That was cool as I wasn’t expecting it!
Thanks so much for coming along with me as we go on this journey!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
(My time is quickly coming to a close here in Florida, so I was blessed that they chose this particular day to have the presentation. I was quite happy that I was able to be here!)
