Progress on that BIG Quilt

I am so glad I decided to start writing about Jessica’s and Jeremiah’s (my son) quilt. I had been very sad/frustrated about my own lack of progress. I had wanted to get the 144 blocks FINISHED before the end of January, and it felt like I was making no progress, or at least not like I wanted.

So I decided to just make weekly blog posts. Somehow when I do that, I begin to work harder on something. It’s helped me in so many of my larger projects as I then begin to break things into small increments and attempt to do them.

Last week I mentioned that I wanted to get the blocks done by the end of January.

Let me share with you what I’ve been doing.

I did make the center sections of the blocks.

Then I made the 288 parts that are cream/teal or cream/brown.

It took me quite a while to press ALL of them, however!

These blocks are super simple. However there are a lot of them. Anytime you are making 144 blocks, a bit of boredom can enter the project.

But I’ve been working hard and now here I am. I did get all 144 of the blocks sewn together, but they do need to be pressed.

So that’s my next step. Then I will work on putting them together!

I know I should not need the accountability of a blog post, but sometimes I do. Now I have the blocks finished. Next is to get them all pressed and ready to start sewing together. I may lay out half the the blocks at a time on the floor as the floor simply isn’t big enough here in mom’s house for such a quilt.

So there you are! Tiny steps. Accomplishments!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.

Thanks for coming along wherever you are reading this!
