"Prairie Home"

I finished this one and am so happy with it!

This is a pattern found in the Prairie Home book by Lori Holt. You can get yours here if this is something you would like to do!

I did use all Riley Blake/Lori Holt fabrics for this quilt except for the crows.

it was not a particularly difficult quilt to make - but it was a large one with a lot of piecing.

However, after making some of the quilts I’ve made, it was not unusually complicated or slow. I did enjoy making the cabin the best! Maybe I’ll figure out how to make something with several of these (only smaller). We’ll see. I’ll think on it.

My husband thinks the quilt is a strange one—the primary reason is that it isn’t symmetrical. I told him I thought the strangest design choice is the moon at the same time as the crows “out” there. Usually if the moon is out, crows wouldn’t be. At least I don’t think so. And vice versa. I didn’t mind the assymetrical look - but it does bother my husband. He lets me know every time I make one of my own like that. :)

For me the house/log cabin was the part of this quilt that I fell in love with. It is “the reason” I wanted to make this quilt. The long cabin blocks, however with the little stars in the middle, took a long, long time to make! I did go through a lot of Lori Holt fabrics while making these blocks as well - but I did enjoy them! They weren’t hard.

I went ahead and made the house first, then the log cabin blocks across the top, and then all the star courthouse steps. THEN, I went back and made the crows, trees, etc. and started putting the whole quilt back together.

The quilt roll:

Oh, and I definitely LOVE this quilt.

I am so happy with it - but maybe I should have made it a nice queen size as right now it is a tad bit small for that. However, we tend to use several quilts on our bed when it is winter - so I certainly can use it on the top. :)

Here is my Lori Holt series so far - and I’m delighted to have this many finished. I am itching to get back to making more tops and finishing up the ones that are waiting to be quilted.

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey!

Have a great day wherever you are reading this!
