Argyle Bargello finished in Blue and Green

I was able to get this one quilted!

I shared the top here..

This one is for my sis and her husband. I brought the fabrics back with me back in April with that in mind though I didn’t tell her. I wanted to see how it would turn out before I offered it to her. Then I went ahead and made it first thing when I got back.

She told me she loved it!

I wanted to get it quilted before I went back to the states for my daughter’s graduation ceremony, so I just bit the bullet, and did it.

I straight line quilted this with my Janome and just followed the line of the design. It took about 5-6 hours I think it was. I would work for about an hour straight and then take a break - such as walking over to the garden for a bit - and then back to it. I wanted to get it done!

After I got it bound, I went ahead and hung it on the line and took photos.

Yes, I love this quilt. I really like the design.

Sadly now the book where I got it before seems to be “out” on Amazon. The best ones I can see are second-hand should you be interested. The pattern is called “Argyle” and is by Eileen Wright.

No, I don’t write bargello patterns.

I think if I did write a pattern like this it would be super simple like Surf Song and that one is already written plus I think even MSQC (Missouri Star Quilting Company) made a simple bargello pattern and put it on You Tube many years ago.

However, to me, they don’t even compare to Eileen Wright’s book. Even though the price is now $43 - I am pretty sure that if you are going to use it very often, it may still be a decent deal. Prices for patterns seem to have gone to $12 each for PDF ones that you download and have to print out yourself!

Amazing.

Anyway, this is the second time I’ve made this one. I want to do it yet again, though. I always need a bit of time between each one as I get a little tired of it when I do it, though I usually do them quickly once I get the strip sets made.

It is the type of project that actually grows in front of your eyes so you are constantly being rewarded by seeing the design grown with every couple of strips added to the center. It sort of feeds that rewards center in your mind and makes you just want to keep going!

I’m happy to be able to give this one to my sis and her husband.

Oh - if you are curious about the “other one” I made - it was this one - a PINK Argyle. I’ll put it below side by side with a photo of this one.

Have a great day wherever you are reading this.

Thanks so much for coming along with me on this journey!
