Our Quilt of Valor Challenge...Update
Those of you who follow us know that we are having a Summer Challenge for 2025.
However, unlike our other two challenges, we are doing something a bit different.
The idea behind this is to help one of our local groups - the Quilt of Valor (QOV) group in Lakeland, FL to get caught up on their quilts for vets. They said they were about 80 quilts behind in providing quilts for the vets on their list.
When Rachael heard that, she said, “We can help with that”.
Because of that, we are offering a QOV bundle with some beautiful Northcott fabric and Rachael’s picks blenders. If you buy a bundle and send a finished quilt by August 31, 2025 you will not WIN a ribbon or money from Quilted Twins as we have done in the past. Instead, each quilt will be donated to a local QOV group to be given to a vet. Maybe you are like me, and have been intrigued by the idea of making a QOV for some time.
Well, it’s a great time to try this!
Instead of having only a few winners, we are compiling gifts donated to us from various companies - everything from scissors to thread! The participation from the companies has been fantastic. We will be sharing more details with you in the future.
It is NOT TOO LATE to join in the fun.
To participate in the challenge, you do need to use the bundle - it includes a stunning panel and some fabrics. Get it from us - we have them in stock. Walk in and get one or order it. Then make a quilt that is about 60”x80” for a vet. The minimum size is 55”x65” and maximum size is 72”x90”. The exact design of the quilt will be up to you.
Yes, you can add fabrics - this one isn’t about being disqualified for prizes - this one is about getting a finished quilt to a vet! No one will be disqualified as it’s not that kind of challenge! Use the bundle - you will be included!
We have started to get quilts in for this cause!
A couple of these are not from the kits - but are still going to be donated to the cause! But the top two ones on this pile have already been returned - and they are from our fabric bundle!
OK, ok, the bottom one is mine and I made it with QOV in mind - a couple of years ago. I’m thrilled that it can be included in this push - though since I didn’t use our bundle, it isn’t technically part of the challenge.
But I’m hoping it can help mitigate the lack that our local QOV has - by providing one more quilt. And I’m using it to help pad our pile since we are just now starting to get quilts in.
But don’t worry - there is plenty of time - to make one in its entirety!
Here are the two panel ones we’ve gotten back! They are wonderful! These are part of the challenge! :) I love ‘em!
We know many of you have vets in your family. Some of you are miliitary wives, or military ‘brats’. Or maybe YOU are the vet. You know what it’s like to have a loved one in the armed forces. It’s not so easy. Many are in danger every day they are ‘out there’.
We do appreciate all of you who are participating. Thank you so much!
If you are a business owner of some type and would like to donate a nice gift of appreciation to those who complete quilts, just let Rachael know or text us at: 352-507-8458. We’ll get you on our donor list for the proper appreciation!
Ideas are: Gift certificates to local restaurants, a quilting for long arming, or a sizeable discount for longarm services; a sewing machine repair job or a service on a machine. You can think of a myriad number of things that everyone as quilters can use! If you can fill that need, would you consider donating a gift?
We are so excited to start to see the quilts coming in! We will try to keep you up to date. We know it is very, very early in this process!!! Thank you so much if you are doing this with us.
Margaret keeps Rachael in appropriate panels from our panel department! This tray was used in making more bundles on Monday!
But it’s not too late if you want to participate as well! Go ahead. Order one today!
Thanks so much for coming along with us in this journey!
Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
