That PILE of Trees from Milton is Gone
Remember that pile of trees in my mom’s front pasture?
Well, last week one day it rained all day so my husband decided it was a great day to get rid of it.
Yes, we really did have a drizzling rain all day - from morning til late afternoon and then again a bit later.
We had been wondering how to burn up that huge pile without someone calling the fire department.
So my husband went out after breakfast and started the fire. It was already raining at the time - but thankfully not a typical Florida downpour - but rather, more like the typical Polish rain!
He managed to get it started and then, since the debris had been sitting for a month or more, it burned quite nicely.
He sent me a picture during the day while I was at the store.
He sent me this picture of the fire at its highest. I was at the store, working.
I then took some photos at about 5 pm after it had been going for 8 hours.
It burned all night.
He did have access to a tractor to keep piling it up in the center, so it in effect, has a nice firepit feel now to the area.
I was relieved he decided to do it when it was so wet as this is the dry time in Florida. But, thankfully, no fire trucks showed up nor did anyone get upset with the burning. I guess they did it before, and a neighbor came over and helped Peter, my nephew burn. This time since it was actually raining when it was burning, I think no one was worried that it might spread.
The last photo I got was this one. The pile was finally pretty much gone and before we left the area, the fire was out and it was cold.
As we’ve been travelling, while still in SC and GA and through NC and TN we saw the wreckage that Helene left. It was sobering. But this was from Milton, which was just a few days after Helene hit NC.
Anyway, it was quite an exciting time at Tillmanville. I wanted to share, but I wanted to show you after it was completely gone.
Now the pile is really nothing - and I failed to get a photo of it. But the weather really cooperated and it was a great time to have such a fire in my mom’s front pasture. I couldn’t actually believe it would burn so well in the rain. But it did.
And now you know. Have a great day wherever you are reading this.
Thanks so much for coming along with us on this journey.
